Winner of the Future of Europe prize, the Greek artist Iris Touliatou presents at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Leipzig her solo show Matter Enclosed in Heavy Brackets which, evoking the premiere of the play by Orson Welles, entitled The Cradle Will Rock, cancelled by the U.S. government in 1937 for its critical content and its references to contemporary events, it weaves a dialogue with the current political and economic situation. Using different media – sculpture, collage, installation, film – the artist moves between reality and fiction through works that rely on their ambiguity, dialoguing in a setting which reverses the schemes of perception and transforms the viewers into actors.
Until June 24.
